UM Board and System officials announce plans for alternative funding for UMKC Conservatory

The University of Missouri Board of Curators and System officials announced June 28 that they will develop plans for an alternative funding match for the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Downtown Campus for the Arts (Conservatory) rather than seek funding from the state under the 50-50 matching program for capital projects. Living and Working in Harmony

Margaret and Charles Athey both received scholarships to support their degrees in music education and went on to devote their careers to teaching thousands of students in choir and instrumental studies. They have recently donated $20,000 to endow a scholarship to the UMKC Conservatory in an effort to give back the opportunity that was so essential to their lives.
