We appreciate your interest in supporting the UMKC Foundation and want to make the process as easy as possible. There are a number of ways to make a gift besides direct contributions.
Faculty and Staff Gifts
Donations from faculty and staff in support of UMKC or specific programs are a valued reflection of your dedication to the university. You can make biweekly or monthly contributions through payroll reduction either indefinitely or toward a specific amount by completing and submitting the Authorization for Payroll Deduction Form.
Matching gifts from your employer enhance your donation to the UMKC Foundation. To determine if your employer has a matching program, you can access our database on employers’ programs via our Online Giving Form.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds, which are similar to a charitable savings account, are an easy, cost-effective way to support our mission. You can transfer assets to a tax-exempt sponsoring organization and then recommend how much you would like granted to charities such as the UMKC Foundation.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Making a gift in recognition of a loved one or colleague is a lasting way to acknowledge and celebrate their life and accomplishments. Gifts can benefit the university in general or support a specific school or program that was significant to the honoree. You can complete and submit the Memorial and Tribute Form, the Memorial Tree and Bench Brochure or contact a gift director to discuss further options.
Gifts of appreciated securities or mutual funds to the UMKC Foundation can provide significant support for an area of your designation at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Gifts of securities may be used to support the annual fund, establish an endowment, provide unrestricted support or other learning opportunities and initiatives.
Corporate and Foundation Relations
Corporate and foundation giving is an integral component of UMKC’s success. The UMKC Foundation is recognized as a successful partner for major corporate and foundation funders in Kansas City.
In-kind gifts are donations of goods or services that can be made either in a donor’s lifetime or as part of an estate. Once fair market value is established, the gift should be eligible for tax donation. Contact the appropriate gift director to determine the best course of action in making an in-kind gift.
Launch UMKC is a free, easy-to-use crowdfunding platform available to UMKC faculty, staff, students, and affiliates to collect donations, build cause awareness and connect socially. Donations are tax-deductible and can be directed to specific university programs or projects. Typically, campaigns are live for 30 to 45 days, require about three months of work from application to finish, and require promotional effort by the group or individual initiating the project in order to be successful. Please contact Dana Chamblin, Director of Annual Giving, at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
