Enduring Legacy Supports Special Education
Gwendoline Speyer was tenacious. A native of London, England, she began her career as a teacher in the London public schools during World War II. Passionate and dedicated, she held her classes in campus bomb shelters during air raids. The legacy of her commitment lives on through the Joseph and Gwen Speyer Scholarship fund at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. (more…)
Queen of Kansas City Blues Leaves Legacy
Kansas City blues great Jeannie Cheatham has already left a legacy through her music career. But at 90 years old, Cheatham continues to contribute to the blues tradition through the gift of her music royalties and copyrights to the Marr Sound Archive at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.
